Earth- anchor system:

A system for anchoring the guylines and skylines of cable yarding equipment is presented. An earth anchor that can be driven into the ground to a desired anchoring depth and which has a tie rod extending therefrom for connection to an above-the-ground structure to be supported. The anchor is in the form of a stamped plate having a substantially flat co-planar body portion with a tapered ground entry end and with planing wings formed at a trailing end which are angled out of the plane of the body portion for guiding the anchor plate into a substantially horizontal anchoring position upon tensioning of the tie rod. The anchor plate is formed with a stepped drive rod receiving notch in the trailing end which is engageable by the head of the drive rod and which maintains the anchor plate in coaxial relation to the drive rod as it is being driven into the gound.

 

DESIGN & PERFORMANCE FOR EARTH- ANCHOR:

Earth anchor System had been developed from combination of the techniques used in reinforced earth and soil anchoring. Instead of using steel strip as a reinforcement, Anchored Earth System consist of round steel bar (tendon) with precast concrete block attached at the free end of each of the reinforcing steel bars, and it is backfilled with granular material or suitable earth fill. 

This research project can be considered a case study of anchored reinforced soil wall which investigates the performance of Anchored Earth System due to its pullout capacity. In this study, pullout resistance which contributed by friction between the backfill material and the shaft surface of reinforcing tendon, and the passive earth pressure against the concrete anchor block, can be evaluated through pullout tests. The main problems to be studied in this project are the results obtained from field pullout test are different from the calculated theoretical values and there is a non-zero intercept at relationship of pullout force against overburden pressure.
