The Earth Anchors For Trees kits time-saving devices work like a toggle bolt in soil, providing a safe and ecological solution for anchoring to the earth. Like was said make sure you take the plastic ends off the driving rod and only use one end to hammer the other in the hole on the foot . Make sure you leave enough chord to fasten or loop . I used a cordless impact to tighten the clamps made it very easy with a 7/16 socket . When you hank on them they grab . I took off one star because unless you dig them out their never coming out . I have all ten legs anchored on the inside and 5 more pairs with tie downs over the top with anchors on the outside a combination of the spiral anchors and these . I will not worry if I am away from home and a 50 - 60 mph wind gust comes by . Not worth investing the money in a shelter and not anchoring it their like sails otherwise . With just the 4 anchors provided in my kit mine was lifting and moving six inches at times in just 15 mph winds . Now with every leg tied down with 1/8 aircraft wire and 5 2 inch truckers starps over the outside the top doesn't pillow causing more wear nor does it lift at all . Good luck the shelter is so much better if you do it right and I put a ground contact pressure treated plywood floor in it also so its nice .  If you do the outside straps just get them firm not tight you don't want to stress the frame at all just keep the top from lifting up and sailing it . Just firm downward pressure .
