Earth anchor of Slope Engineering
Sep 28, 2022| Earth anchor of slope Engineering:
In recent years, the world has entered an active period of earthquakes. A large number of landslides caused by strong earthquakes often pose a serious threat to people’s lives and property, causing huge casualties and severe damages in infrastructures (figures above). At the same time, new disaster prevention concepts based on resilience, robustness and sustainability have been gradually proposed. However, in the field of disaster prevention of earthquake-induced landslides, the research and engineering practice based on the disaster prevention concepts such as resilience are still in the preliminary stage, lacking the corresponding design specifications and guidelines, which brings great challenges to the seismic design practice of slope engineering based on resilience. In view of this, the technical committee (TC-1) of seismic performance-based design for resilient and sustainable slope engineering has been established, led by Tongji University, and jointly organized by the International Consortium on Geo-disaster Reduction (ICGdR), world-class universities and research institutions. Since 2018, the TC-1 has hold three international seminars on seismic performance, resilience and sustainability of slope engineering in Shanghai, China (2018), Edinburgh, UK (2020) and Sendai, Japan (2022) respectively. The previous conferences systematically carried out extensive and in-depth discussions on the above topics and boosted good research outcomes, including conference papers, special issues on international journals such as Engineering Geology and Soils and Foundations, and a monograph entitled SlopeStochastic Dynamics with the Springer press. These works laid a good foundation for the research on seismic resilience, robustness and sustainable design and evaluation of slope engineering. Earth anchor for the slope engineering is good choice.
Under the above background, the International Workshop on Seismic Design and Assessment Framework for Resilience, Robustness and Sustainability of Slope Engineering meets the urgent needs and expectations of researchers and engineering practitioners, to solve the scientific problems encountered in the specific design and evaluation of resilience and disaster prevention of slope engineering. The purpose of the academic workshop is to provide a platform for experts, scholars and engineers working on seismic design of slopes all over the world to exchange experiences and share achievements, define the framework of a new generation guideline for the design and evaluation of anti-seismic resilience of slope engineering, and construct an international standard. At the same time, the workshop will present new achievements and progresses in the theory and application of the resilience, robustness and sustainability seismic design and evaluation of slope engineering, through the invited lectures, sub-session lectures, thematic exchanges and discussions.
