Different type earth anchors:

Anchors are essential for keeping a vessel in place. There are several types of anchors available, each with its unique features and advantages. The four main types of anchors are anchor with rod, rodless anchor, high holding power anchor, and special anchors.

Anchor with rod: An anchor with a rod typically consists of an earth anchor claw and an anchor shaft, with a crossbar perpendicular to the plane of the anchor claw. Most rod anchors have double claws, although some have a single claw. One claw bites deeper into the soil, providing a greater holding power. However, the crossbar makes storage inconvenient, so these anchors are typically used for small ships. Examples of rod anchors include navy anchors, single-claw anchors, Foshan anchors, and Japanese anchors.

Rodless anchor: A rodless anchor has an anchor claw and an anchor rod that can rotate at a certain angle relative to each other, without a crossbar. Two anchor claws bite into the soil simultaneously, making them convenient for anchoring and storage. The most widely used rodless anchor is the Hall anchor and its improved Spike anchor.

High holding power anchor: A high holding power earth anchor has a wide anchor claw that can rotate at a certain angle, and either the anchor head or the middle of the anchor claw has a protruding rod to stabilize it. These anchors are suitable for sandy or soft soil due to their large area on the soil and their holding power. Examples of high holding power anchors include Danforth anchors, Markov large claw anchors, and speedboat anchors.

Special earth anchors: Special anchors have a different shape than general anchors, such as fungus-shaped or umbrella-shaped anchor heads. These anchors can bite deeper into the soil, providing high holding power and making them suitable for long-term anchoring and positioning of light boats, buoys, barges, and other vessels.
